About Me
Hello! My name is Stephanie and I love graphic design. ♥
Design lives with us every day, for it is a subtle communication amongst minds.
I grew up as a first-generation American, which comes with an overwhelming amount of expectations and responsibilities. My parents took an incredible risk by immigrating to a country with a limited vernacular, little money and so much uncertainty. Their greatest hope was for me to become successful in a lucrative and promising profession; so you can imagine how less-than-happy they were to see me pursue a competitive career as a Graphic Designer. Although I had the discipline and brains to be successful in the medical field or perhaps in law, I felt there was no room for passion or creativity– and that motivated me to try my very best to prove myself against all odds.
If I were to describe myself professionally toward my craft I would say: Ambitious, determined, passionate, disciplined, & responsible.
The Journey Begins
I began my professional journey by attending Worcester Technical High School as a student in the Graphic Communications trade. I learned a range of design skills involving binary and offset printing, while becoming well acquainted with Adobe Creative Suite programs.
My senior year of high school I was selected to be an intern for the City of Worcester's Cable Services department where I excelled in video productions, graphic designer of the city's government channel's bulletin board, and became the director & host of Worcester's Cultural Buzz. I continued this opportunity while managing life as a full-time college student.
I attended Becker College originally as a Communications Design major but switched to Graphic Design to be able to learn more about web design and less about telecommunications. I took beneficial electives such as Digital Audio & Musical Composition courses.
Since graduating Becker College, I have expanded my design skills and passionately continue to take creative opportunities. I’ve worked as a TV Production Assistant for the Worcester Public Schools while simultaneously as an event coordinator/marketing associate for Worcester’s first esports gaming bar. I’ve practiced adobe design skills for about 13 years and videography/advertisement for eight years. Notably, I’ve learned adaptability, communication, independence, and organization.
One meaningful opportunity for me was creating and coordinating an anime convention-styled event at All Systems Go, Esports Bar. This project gave me the freedom to combine many skills to produce a successful event; Starting with a marketing plan, consistent social media advertisements, networking with local artists and vendors for communal event participation, designing website informational pages on WordPress, illustrating the official clothing merchandise for the event, editing video media for the venue’s display, as well as being an active photographer during the event. I would be happy to explain more in an interview!
